Alternative hip-hop artist Aminé dropped the second installment of his ‘POINTFIVE’ series on November 5th. The projects 12 tracks long with a run-time of 26 minutes. Aminé holds his own too with no features. Production is primarily done by go-to producer Pasqué, and Lido. This is his first project following the release of ‘Limbo’ in August of 2020.

He also announced the ‘The Best Tour Ever’ with support from Cochise, AJ Tracy, and 454. The US-based tour starts at the tail-end of January in his hometown Portland and wraps up on March 28th in Vancouver. Would like to note I’m also going on the tour (bought the tickets today actually) and am very excited about it.

Alright now for the fun stuff. It seems like Aminé likes to have fun on his ‘POINTFIVE’ series projects. The name is exactly what it implies, they’re transition projects. The exciting thing about this one though in my opinion was the experimentation with new sounds. Aminé has always been a more alternative-leaning artist, but it hasn’t shown to the level of TWOPOINTFIVE before. The production is very dance-inspired and catchy. It’s loose and fun. The heavily-pitched vocals are also a nice new touch for him. And the instrumentation is super colorful. Very much what the cover shows. The whole thing is tied together very nicely. Also, this isn’t to say Aminé hasn’t been creative or experimental in the past. Because that’s far from the truth. Any fan of Aminé knows how creative he is, from colorful music videos (which are mostly directed by him) to his production back to the ‘GOOD FOR YOU’ days. I mean more that this is his biggest show of experimentation on a project. And it turned out great.

The highlight of the project to me is how fun it is. None of the songs take themselves too seriously. The lyrics are clever and funny. It’s also narrated by social media influencer and comedian Ricky Thompson (who also narrated ONEPOINTFIVE), which adds to the lightness and humor of the album. He’s just having a good time. The perfect project to put yourself in a good mood.
