Check out: 'Burbank House' by tsubi club

by Jack Shapiro

First impressions can be everything, especially in music. With air-tight attention spans and streaming algorithms that no one can seem to figure out, it’s become increasingly difficult to make that first big splash. But Midwest artist Soren, better known by the moniker Tsubi Club has definitely done so with his first major single “Burbank House”.

An amazing thing about this generation of music is that artists have managed to create a both nostalgic and futuristic soundscape. Tsubi Club captures the nostalgia of a pop-punk song you would find in 2005 while at the same time taking advantage of the vocal distortions and intense beat-drops of hyper-pop.

The music video matches that same chaotic energy as the song too. The quick cuts and glitches throughout keep you on your toes. There are also major anime influences and illustrations sprinkled throughout. It’s an equally interesting and engaging watch. And given its co-directed by Soren himself along with James Baby, it’s another testament to his creativity. Also interesting to note, he recently tweeted that in a years time the track will be a “drastic outlier” in his discography.

Soren has more planned than just music though. He recently announced and took submissions for “burbank_house :GROUNDWORKS”, which will be an open-source collaborative physical art book. Taking submissions of digital or traditional illustrations, photography, GFX, 3D art, typography, or any other form of visual art that can be put on a page, he took in over 100 artists for the collaborative project.

The future seems bright for Tsubi Club, and we’re excited to see what’s coming next. Check out the music video for ‘Burbank House’ below!
