New Music Friday: Nas, A$AP TWELVYY, And More Drop For The Holidays

by Jack Shapiro

Happy Holidays! Hope you guys are all healthy and staying safe! Welcome back to our weekly new music roundup.

With Christmas being tomorrow, it seems like there’s so much going on. I work at TJ Maxx, and holy hell was it crowded yesterday. But, music drops is not one of those things. Obviously, there’s your healthy dose of holiday music. You have classics like “All I Want For Christmas Is You”, but we also have a fair share of modern offerings too. I’m a big fan of Merry Christmas Lil Mama by Chance The Rapper and Jeremih. Although it’s not at all in the holiday spirit, I love “Shoulda Left You”. So much. Very salty, but it’s so good. Bryson Tiller dropped a holiday-themed album this year, A Different Christmas

Anyways, for those who celebrate, Merry Christmas. Regardless of whether you do, there’s always a really warm energy around Christmas. Even being Jewish, my family always orders Sesame Chicken and Lo Mein (ordering Chinese food on Christmas is a wonderful long-standing Jewish tradition). Hope you have a good one!

Here’s the roundup:

Magic by Nas: Nas comes back with his second album this year, and his third consecutive album produced by Hit-boy. It’s great to see someone who’s been in as active as long as Nas still dropping high-quality albums. Great Rocky feature on this as well.

Fleece by Juto: Juto is a great artist I’ve been following for a little under two years now. He’s a great blend of indie rock and RnB. His vocal layering stands out, and he’s got a super unique voice. His music sounds like a vintage sweater, if that makes any sense. Regardless, this is the final installment of fabric-entitled EP’s. The first was Velvet, followed by Wool, which both dropped in 2019.

“Come Thru” by Juno (featuring midwxst): Juno is a dope hyperpop artist who just dropped off this single with midwxst as a gift to end-off the year. Great song! Includes those classic hyperpop bursts, but also a much softer acoustic guitar bridge nearing the tail end of the track.

“Last Train 2 Paris” by A$AP Twelvyy: He’s got such a dope voice. Like this song a lot. It’s a slower tempo, with a hypnotic beat. Hopefully he’s got a project coming relatively soon.

“Save Me From Myself” by Wifisfuneral: I feel like Wifisfuneral never really gets the credit he deserves. Stand-out voice and usually catchy flows. This song’s a great example of that. Definitely a sadder one, but another example of him being a talented artist. He produced this one as well. Check it out.

That’s all for today. Happy Holidays!
