Check Out: New Single from Baird "Lightning Of July"

Maryland artist Baird releases a brand new single off his upcoming project BIRDSONGS, Vol.3 titled “Lightning In July”. The song, as per usual with Baird, is self-produced. Baird also noted in an Instagram post this is his favorite song off the upcoming project. The song is a sweet, laid-back indie alternative cut.

He told Northern Transmissions, ‘Lightning of July’ is the love story of the project. It’s about that moment when your crush melts from fear into confidence and you let go of worries for the future. You’re so taken with someone that at first you’re just washed away by them, but then you realize that you’re actually part of the storm too. That’s the release you hear at the end of the chorus.” 

It’s a dope song, especially the guitar that’s played throughout certain sections over his signature choppy drums. I think it’s my favorite of the three tracks he’s dropped for the BIRDSONGS Vol.3 rollout.

If you’re unfamiliar with Baird, as said before he’s a Maryland-raised (Baltimore more specifically) artist with a ton of talent. He caught the attention of fans with the release of the first two volumes of the BIRDSONGS series, which he says he’s using as a “foot in the door”. They’re both great projects in their own regard, and a really cool blend of indie, acoustic, alternative, and dance music that pull from a handful of different influences. He also worked all over Brockhampton’s previous album, ROADRUNNER: NEW LIGHT, NEW MACHINE. He has credits on nine of the album’s 13 tracks, and has a feature verse on “OLD NEWS”. He also played a role on two of the cuts on the album’s deluxe version, as well as on Kevin Abstract’s single “Sierra Nights”.
