Check Out: New Song From Christian Alexander "Makeup"

by Jack Shapiro

UK-born artist Christian Alexander drops off his brand new track ‘Makeup’. The indie-rock track is his first with label Video Stored and is produced by Alexander himself as well as label heads Kevin Abstract and Romil Hemnani.

Alexander talks about throwing on makeup at the beginning of the day “to wash away the faceless feelings that I feel today”. He goes through facing and working through these past insecurities on the track.

If you’re unfamiliar with Alexander, he gained a following with the release of his projects Summer ’17 and Summer ’19. Both of the lo-fi, indie-alternative projects are entirely self-produced and written.

The new track in particular is a big step in Alexander’s career as well, as it marks the first time he’s collaborated with other artists on one of his own tracks. He’s talked about mainly working solo in the past, check out this article from i-D for more on that. He does mention, he was never against collaboration, but at the time of the interview was only comfortable writing on his own.

Alexander has expanded his working circle since the late 2019 interview, and even had credits on BROCKHAMPTON’s 2021 album Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine, and was previously set to join them on them on their 2020 UK tour before the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

It’s a great track, and be on the lookout for more Christian Alexander music in the future. Also check out the music video below!

Have a good one!
