Chaz Bear aka Toro Y Moi, the master of switching it up, is back with a brand new album cycle. The album, Mahal, is scheduled to drop on April 29th via Dead Oceans.
To hold you over though, he’s released two new songs: “Postman” and “Magazine” featuring Salami Rose Joe Louis. Both feature minimalistic dance beats. Kind of a calm within the chaos vibe from the tracks. This is the first new music from Toro since the 2019 effort Outer Peace. I enjoyed “Magazine” a bunch. Very eerie, but calming at the same time. And very minimal but catchy vocals from Toro that we see a lot.
He also recently appeared on Kenny Beats’ popular YouTube show, The Cave. The two make a beat in under 10 minutes and he freestyles over it. Check it out for yourself here.
